12. Proverbs 4:23 “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your
thoughts.”

Difference # 1 Between the Scriptures and the Secret:
• Our Thoughts are Natural not Supernatural!
Difference # 2 Between the Scriptures and the Secret:
• Our Thoughts should be Spiritual and Not Selfish!
*** Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to
the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing
and perfect will.”

*** Joshua 1:8 “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth;
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything
written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” [NIV]
Focus on God’s Thoughts and
God’s Blessings Will be Yours!
“You’re not what you think you are, but what you think, you are!”
IF WE WANT TO CHANGE OUR LIVES
1. WE HAVE TO RETRAIN OUR BRAINS!
*** Phil. 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if
anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.” [NIV]
Garbage In – Garbage Out!
How We Think Forms Our Character!
*** 2 Cor. 10:5b “…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to
Christ.”
7. That’s how we change our thoughts…now sometimes you ladies ask us men “what’cha
thinking about?” and we say, “Nothin” – and it’s true…but honestly our brains
operate 24/7…always thinking…even dreams are…
8. To get rid of our “stinkin’ thinkin’” we have replace those thoughts w/positive…
9. Become a Media Minister!
10. ILL - Larry Poland, Mastermedia International, gives us a balance. He
is in an area of ministry to Hollywood with people who make the television
productions. He knows that Christians are not going to turn off their TVs
so he came up with a positive way to keep your mind on thoughts pleasing to
God. He says every time you are watching television and you see something
that goes against your Christian values he said pray for those who are producing
that. Pray for your own mind and for those who will be influenced by that
program.
11. Spend time in God’s Word:
• 2 Tim. 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach
us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens
us out and teaches us to do what is right.” [NLT]

12. Think and Speak Positively…Especially at Home!
• Col. 4:6 “When you talk, you should always be kind and pleasant so you will
be able to answer everyone in the way you should.” [NCV]
13. Beware of Implanted Patterns!
• Pornography…
• Excessively Violent Video Games…addictive behaviors…destroy…
• Mark 7:20-23 “And then he added, "It is the thought-life that defiles
you. For from within, out of a person's heart, come evil thoughts, sexual
immorality…murder… wickedness…eagerness for lustful pleasure…. All these vile
things come from within; they are what defile you and make you unacceptable
to God." [NLT]
14. Whatever is True! – Not make believe…what I want
it to be…real…!
• Whatever is Noble! - Things that are worthy of honor…commendable…
• Whatever is Right! – Things that meet God’s standards…!
• Whatever is Lovely! * - Things that are morally
pure… “G” rated…
• Whatever is Admirable! *-Things that are sweet,
pleasing & attractive to God and man!
• Whatever is Excellent and Praiseworthy!
15. Can you imagine how different our lives can be if we would focus on these
things…!
16. Our Thought Life can either Build Us Up or Destroy Us!
17. Proverbs 15:26 “The Lord detests the thoughts of the wicked, but those
of the pure are pleasing to him.” [NIV]
