SUMMER ROAD
TRIP!
HISTORIC MARKER AHEAD!
Believers Responsibility to the Nation
What were important markers in your life?
_______________________________________
_______________________________________
1. Follow the lead of the prophets-
a. Isaiah- Follow willingly.
**Isaiah 6:8 - Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall
I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send
me!" [NIV]
b. Jeremiah- Follow with perseverance.
**Jeremiah 1:6-8 - "Ah, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do
not know how to speak; I am only a child." But the LORD said to me,
"Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send
you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I
am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD. [NIV]
c. Ezekiel- Follow like a watchman.
**Ezekiel 3:4-7 - He then said to me: "Son of man, go now to the
house of Israel and speak my words to them. You are not being sent to
a people of obscure speech and difficult language, but to the house of
Israel- not to many peoples of obscure speech and difficult language,
whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they
would have listened to you. But the house of Israel is not willing to
listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for the whole
house of Israel is hardened and obstinate. [NIV]
d. John the Baptist- Follow even when you’re alone.
**Luke 3:4-6 - As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:
"A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him, every valley shall be filled in, every mountain
and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough
ways smooth. And all mankind will see God's salvation.' [NIV]
2. Point to the Historical marker ahead?
a. Point through prayer.
Two specific prayers-
Pray for God to heal our land.
**1 Timothy 2:1-3 - I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers,
intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all
those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness
and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior. [NIV]
**2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, who are called by my name, will humble
themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal
their land. [NIV]
Pray for opportunities.
b. Point through servanthood.
Serve out of gratitude-
**Galatians 5:13-14 - You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do
not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another
in love. The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your
neighbor as yourself." [NIV]
Serve as a witness-
**Matthew 20:24-28 - When the ten heard about this, they were indignant
with the two brothers. Jesus called them together and said, "You
know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high
officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever
wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants
to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to
be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
[NIV]
c. Point through your life.
Model Christ and people will see something different-
**John 13:34-35 - A new command I
give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one
another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love
one another. [NIV]
3. Point through sharing our faith.
**Matthew 28:18-20 - Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority
in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples
of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
[NIV]
T.A.B. Someone
a. Talk to someone about God
b. Act like Christ
c. Bring to church
Who will you TAB?
