JESUS UNCENSORED!
Not a “Lite” Light
In John 8:12 (NIV)
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of
the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have
the light of life."
Is This a “Lite” Light? -- NO WAY
1. John Recorded it
John 20:30-31 (NIV)
Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples,
which are not recorded in this book. [31] But these are written that you
may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing
you may have life in his name.
John 21:25 (NIV)
Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written
down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the
books that would be written.
2. The Pharisees Disputed
it
John 8:13 (TEV)
The Pharisees said to him, "Now you are testifying on your own behalf;
what you say proves nothing."
3. Jesus Defended it
John 8:14-19 (NIV)
Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony
is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have
no idea where I come from or where I am going. You judge by human standards;
I pass judgment on no one. But if I do judge, my decisions are right,
because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. In your
own Law it is written that the testimony of two men is valid. I am one
who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me."
Then they asked him, "Where is your father?" "You do not
know me or my Father," Jesus replied. "If you knew me, you would
know my Father also."
How should we respond to The Light? ---___________________
1. Light Attracts, draw
near to Jesus
John 12:31-32 (NIV)
Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world
will be driven out. But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw
all men to myself."
2. Light Reveals, let
Jesus show you God's will
John 14:9-10 (NIV)
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us
the Father’? Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father
is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the
Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
3. Light Guides; let Jesus
direct your way
1 John 1:5-7
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is
light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship
with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all
sin.
4. Light Exposes; let
Jesus remove your wrongs
Matthew 9:2 (NIV)
Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their
faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”
John 3:19-20 (NIV)
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness
instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil
hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds
will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light,
so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through
God.”
5. Light Heals; let Jesus
mend your wounds
Matthew 9:11-12 (NIV)
When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does
your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" On hearing this,
Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. |
