HONEST TO GOD!

HOW DO WE LIVE LIVES THAT ARE HONEST TO GOD?

 

1. BY KNOWING WHAT GOD KNOWS!

*** Hebrews 4:13 “Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. Everything is clear and lies open before him, and to him we must explain the way we have lived.”

***PS 147:5 “Great is our Lord & mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” 

ã THE OMNISCIENCE OF GOD!

A. GOD KNOWS THE PAST!

*** Acts 15:18 “And these things have been known for a long time.”  [NCV]

B. GOD KNOWS THE PRESENT!

***Pr. 15:3 “The Lord's eyes see everything; He watches both evil and good people.” 

C. GOD KNOWS THE FUTURE!

*** Isaiah 46:10 “Only I can tell you what is going to happen even before it happens.” [New Living Translation]

*** 1 John 3:20 “For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.” 

 

2. BY KNOWING WHAT GOD KNOWS ABOUT ME!

*** Psalm 139:1-6 “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.  You know when I sit down or stand up.  You know my every thought when far away.  You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am.  You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.  You both precede and follow me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to know!”  [NLT]

 

A. GOD KNOWS ALL MY FAULTS AND FAILURES!

*** Psalm 69:5  “God, you know what I have done wrong; cannot hide my guilt from you.”  [New Century Version]

*** Proverbs 24:12 “Don't try to avoid responsibility by saying you didn't know about it. For God knows all hearts, and he sees you. He keeps watch over your soul, and he knows you knew!” [NLT]

*** Proverbs 5:21 “For a man's ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all his paths.”  [NIV]

Ø       REALIZE: GOD IS NOT SHOCKED BY MY SIN!

Ø       RESPONSE: BE HONEST TO GOD!

*** 1 John 1:8-9 “If we say that we have not sinned, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth isn't in our hearts. But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away.”  [Contemporary English Version]

 

B. GOD KNOWS ALL MY FEELINGS AND FRUSTRATIONS!

*** Psalm 31:7 “I am overcome with joy because of your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul.”  [NLT]

*** Psalm 56:8 “You know how troubled I am; you have kept a record of my tears.”

*** Ps. 103:13-14 “The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate….he understands how weak we are; he knows we are only dust.” 

Ø       REALIZE: GOD FEELS YOUR PAIN!

Ø       RESPONSE: GIVE HIM YOUR HURTS!

*** 1 Peter 5:7 “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.”  [NLT]

 

C. GOD KNOWS ALL MY FUTURE!

*** Ps. 139:16 “You saw me before I was born.  Every day of my life was recorded in your book.  Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”   [NLT]

*** Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” [NIV]

Ø       REALIZE: GOD SEES MY TOMORROWS TODAY!

Ø       RESPONSE: ASK FOR ADVICE!

*** Jeremiah 33:3 “Ask me and I will tell you some remarkable secrets about what is going to happen here.”  [NLT]

 

D. GOD KNOWS ALL MY FEARS!

*** Matthew 6:31-32 “So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing.  Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs….”  [NLT]

*** Mark 4:40 “Jesus said, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" 

*** MT 6:8 “Your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!” 

Ø       REALIZE: GOD IS AWARE OF YOUR EVERY NEED!

Ø       RESPONSE: TRUST GOD!

*** Philip. 4:6 “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”  [NLT]

 

E. GOD KNOWS ALL MY FAITH STRUGGLES!

*** Romans 7:18-25 “I realize that I don't have what it takes. I can will it, but I can't do it. I decide to do good, but I don't really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. My decisions, such as they are, don't result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time. It happens so regularly that it's predictable. The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up. I've tried everything and nothing helps. I'm at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but am pulled by the influence of sin to do something totally different.”  [The Message]

Ø       REALIZE: JESUS DIED TO PAY FOR YOUR SINS!

Ø       RESPONSE: SO HONOR HIM WITH YOUR WALK AND TALK!

 

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts.  Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”  Psalm 139:23-24   [NLT]
