International Version] ä THE GOAL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS TO MAKE US LIKE JESUS! I SHOW THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: 1. BY
BEING ROOTED IN THE WORD! *** Psalm 1:1-3 “Happy are those who don't
listen to the wicked, who don't go where sinners go, who don't do what evil
people do. They love the Lord's
teachings, and they think about those teachings day and night. They are strong,
like a tree planted by a river. The
tree produces fruit in season, and its leaves don't die.” ä TO GROW HOLY SPIRIT FRUIT: 1. CONTROL THE PESTS! *** Galatians 5:16-17 “So I advise you to live
according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won't be doing what your
sinful nature craves. The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just
opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants.” ***
Galatians 5:19-21 “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your
lives will
produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for
lustful pleasure, idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility,
quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the
feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, envy,
drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin.” - Avoid them – 1 Cor.
15:33 - Control your mind - 2 Cor. 10:5 2. ENRICH THE SOIL! – *** Ps.
119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against
you.” [NIV] *** Col. 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in

steps.” [NIV] 3. LOOK LIKE CHRIST!- 1 Cor. 11:1 “…Follow the example of Christ.” [NIV] 4. BE FULL OF CHRIST! – Eph. 4:13 “…Attaining to the whole measure of
the fullness of Christ.” [NIV] 5. SMELL LIKE CHRIST! 2 Cor. 2:15 “For we are to God the aroma of
Christ….” ä EVALUATION: DO PEOPLE SEE, FEEL, HEAR AND SMELL

BEARING HOLY SPIRIT FRUIT! *** Galatians 5:22-23 “When the Holy Spirit
controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
[NLT] ä THREE GROUPINGS OF THREE CHARATERISTICS: 1. THE GOD-WARD FRUIT! A. LOVE! – 1 John 3:18 “Dear
children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by
our actions.” [NLT] B. JOY!
– John 15:11 “I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy.
Yes, your joy will overflow!” [NLT] C. PEACE! – John 16:33 “I've told you all this so that trusting me, you
will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will
continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I've conquered the
world." [The
Message] 2. THE MAN-WARD FRUIT! A. PATIENCE! – 1 Peter 5:6-7 “Be humble under God's powerful hand so he will
lift you up when the right time comes. Give all your worries to him, because he
cares about you.” [NCV] B. KINDNESS! – Eph. 4:32 “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving….” C. GOODNESS! – Eph. 5:9 “For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness,
righteousness and truth.” [NIV] 3. THE INWARD FRUIT! A. FAITHFULNESS – 2 Tim. 4:7-8 “I have fought well. I have finished the race,
and I have been faithful. So a crown will be given to me for pleasing the
Lord.” [CEV] B. GENTLENESS – 1 Peter 3:4 “You should be known for the beauty that comes
from within…a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” [NLT] C. SELF CONTROL! – 1 Thes. 4:4 “He wants each of you to learn
to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.” [NCV] ä YOU
CAN’T PRODUCE THIS FRUIT IN YOUR LIFE! *** Phil. 1:6 “There has never been the
slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you
would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ
Jesus appears.” [Msg] ä
EVALUATION: ARE YOU PROVIDING EVERYTHING NECESSARY FOR GOD TO PRODUCE
