you. I love him like a son, and he is a faithful servant of the Lord. Timothy
will tell you what I do to follow Christ and how it agrees with what I always
teach about Christ in every church.” [Contemporary English Version] *** Philip. 2:19-22 “I hope in the Lord Jesus
to send Timothy to you soon. I have no one else like Timothy, who truly cares
for you. Other people are interested only in their own lives, not in the work
of Jesus Christ. You know the kind of person Timothy is. You know he has served
with me in telling the Good News, as a son serves his father.” [NCV] & WE
CAN PARENT TO POTENTIAL: 1. BY
HAVING CONVICTION IN TOUGH CIRCUMSTANCES! *** Acts 16:1 “Paul and Silas went first to
Derbe and then on to Lystra. There they met Timothy, a young disciple whose
mother was a Jewish believer, but whose father was a Greek.” [New Living Translation] &
DYSFUNCTION CAN BE AN EXCUSE FOR FAILURE OF AN ENCOURAGMENT FOR SUCCESS! *** John 16:33“I have told you all this so
that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and
sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." [NLT] *** Romans 5:3-4 “We can rejoice, too, when we
run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help
us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, and
character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation.” [NLT] HOW DO WE TEACH OUR CHILDREN TO COPE WITH CRISIS? $LOOK IN! $LOOK OUT! $LOOK AROUND! $LOOK BESIDE! $LOOK BEHIND! $LOOK AHEAD! 2 BY
PASSING ON A PERSONAL FAITH! *** 2 Tim. 1:5 “I have been reminded of your
sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother
Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.” [NIV] & THIS
FAITH IS MORE DEMONSTRATED THAN DEMANDED! ***Deut. 4:9 “Only be careful, and watch
yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or
let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children
and to their children after them.” [New International Version] & WALKING
THE WALK AND TALKING THE TALK 24-7! *** 2 Chron. 20:32 “Jehoshaphat walked in the ways of his father Asa and did not
stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.” [NIV] 3 BY
TEACHING THEM TRUTH! *** 2 Tim. 3:14-16 “But you should continue
following the teachings you learned. You know they are true, because you trust
those who taught you. Since you were a child you have known the Holy
Scriptures, which are able to make you wise. And that wisdom leads to salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by God and is useful for
teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting
faults, and for teaching how to live right.” [NCV] & WE LIVE IN A WORLD WITHOUT A MORAL COMPASS! *** Isaiah 5:20 “How terrible it will be for
people who call good things bad and bad things good, who think darkness is
light and light is darkness, who think sour is sweet and sweet is sour.” [NCV] *** Proverbs 14:12 “There's a way of life that
looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell.” [The Message] $ Your Bible has been
proven: ! ARCHEOLOGICALLY SOUND! ! HISTORICALLY ACCURATE! ! MIRACULOUSLY CONSISTENT! ! WONDERFULLY PRESERVED! ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! *** Ephes. 6:4 “Parents, don't be hard on your
children. Raise them properly. Teach them and instruct them about the Lord.” [CEV] *** Deut. 6:1-9 “The Lord told me to give you
these laws and teachings, so you can obey them…. And if you and your
descendants want to live a long time, you must always worship the Lord and obey
his laws. Be careful to obey him…. So love the Lord your God with all your
heart, soul, and strength. Memorize his laws
and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all
the time, whether you're at home or walking along the road or going to bed at
night, or getting up in the morning. Write down copies and tie them to your
wrists and foreheads to help you obey them. Write these laws on the door frames
of your homes….” [CEV] ! HEAR THE WORD! ! READ THE WORD! ! STUDY THE WORD! ! MEMORIZE THE WORD! ! MEDITATE ON THE WORD! ! APPLY THE WORD! *** Deut. 11:19 “Teach them to your children.
Talk about them all the time—whether you're at home or walking along the road
or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning.” [CEV] *** Psalm 127:4 “Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
