Luckily, a priest was on his way down the same road, but when he saw him he angled across to the other side. Then a Levite religious man showed up; he also avoided the injured man.  "A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man's condition, his heart went out to him. He gave him first aid, disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he lifted him on to his donkey, led him to an inn, and made him comfortable. In the morning he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take good care of him. If it costs any more, put it on my bill—I'll pay you on my way back.'  "What do you think? Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacked by robbers?"  "The one who treated him kindly," the religion scholar responded.    Jesus said, "Go and do the same."  [The Message]

So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.”  [NIV]

*** Philip. 2:3-5 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus….” [NIV]

*** John 11:33-35 “When Jesus saw Mary crying and the Jews who came with her also crying, he was upset and was deeply troubled. He asked, "Where did you bury him?"  "Come and see, Lord," they said. Jesus cried.”  [New Century Version]

*** Proverbs 25:20 “Being happy-go-lucky around a person whose heart is heavy is as bad as stealing his jacket in cold weather or rubbing salt in his wounds.”  [LB]

*** Ephes. 4:32 “Be gentle with one another, sensitive.”  [Msg]

When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me, and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me."  Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, "When did we give you something to eat or drink? When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear or visit you while you were sick or in jail?"  The king will answer, "Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me."  [CEV]
